The Motor Power Company headquarters has been awarded the IN/Architettura 2026 Special Mention

The design for the Motor Power Company Headquarters and Production Facility received a Special Mention at the IN/Architettura 2026 Awards in the New Build category, standing out amongst the nominated projects in Emilia-Romagna.

This award recognises the architectural quality of the new headquarters and the project’s ability to reflect the company’s identity through a dialogue between workspaces, production, culture and the local area.

The jury awarded the Special Mention with the following citation:

“The Special Mention is awarded for the compositional rigour with which the new building connects with the existing structures and the surrounding context, lending the complex a distinctive and original character. The porticoed entrance wing links the two-storey office block and defines a measured internal courtyard, which acts as a bridge between the industrial and rural landscapes.
The architecture translates the company’s philosophy into a fluid promenade that unites work, culture and community, incorporating an open-air theatre and a museum spread across the site and open to the city, which elevate the headquarters to a place of outstanding civic value.”

Designed by architect Andrea Oliva, the new headquarters has been created with the aim of being much more than just a place dedicated to work and production: it is a space where people, innovation and the community can come together.

The inner courtyard, the open-air theatre and the ‘spread-out’ museum all contribute to defining an open, contemporary architectural style, capable of linking the Motor Power Company’s industrial identity with the landscape and the local area.

The IN/Architettura Awards, organised every two years by the National Institute of Architecture (IN/ARCH) and ANCE, in collaboration with Archilovers, form part of the prestigious tradition of the IN/ARCH Awards, which were established in 1962.

What sets them apart is their recognition of architecture as the result of a complex, collaborative process involving all key players in the supply chain: from the initial requirements through to the design, and from construction to the management of the building.

For this reason, the three key figures involved in its creation – the client, the designer and the contractor – are honoured alongside the project itself.

The Special Mention awarded to the Motor Power Company headquarters thus recognises the overall quality of the project and the vision that guided it: architecture that successfully conveys the company’s identity whilst, at the same time, reaching out to people and the local community.
